Whimsically joyfull - Tootsie Reviews

Tootsie is a winning film that has Hoffman playing the lead role as a very convincing woman, in a sure crowd-pleaser.

A real drag - Tootsie Reviews

I am a Dustin Hoffman fan but I hate movies where men dress up as women and all the other characters have no clue. It is the worst story line for a film or TV show.

One of the funniest films of all time - Tootsie Reviews

This is one of the best comedies I've ever seen. No matter how many times I see it I laugh through the entire film. Dustin Hoffman shines in his role and completely brings to life his character Dorothy Michaels. To be honest, he makes a pretty good woman, perhaps not the prettiest but not ugly either. This is one of the films that really balances all the aspects of a film: acting, story, humor, emotion, etc. The weakest part is probably the story, but you don't notice the flaws because everything else makes it so good you can't help but enjoy the movie. I don't think any other guy makes a better woman than Hoffman. This is one of my favorite comedies and I'm sure will last through the ages.

One of the best movies ever made! - Tootsie Reviews

At first I wasnt sure about this movie. But when it got into it i loved it. Dustin Hoffman is one of my favorite actors after seeing this. He is old now but he is a fabulous actor. and jessica lange was good in this too. I dont know why all these drag movies are funny. definitly oscar worthy

Hilarious - Tootsie Reviews

I had just watched this movie for the first time ever and let me just say that this is a better movie than Too Wong Foo Thanks for everything Julie Newmar.

Dustin hoffman brings the house down... - Tootsie Reviews

[Desperate, he took a female role and became a star. If only he could tell the woman he loves.]....Hilarious movie from beginning to end, thanks including to a great performance from Dustin Hoffman. He would have got the Oscar for this if Ben Kingsley (who got it for Gandhi) was not in contention that year. Did you know that Dustin expressed desire to play the title role in Gandhi that year but was offered Tootsie instead?...

Excellent acting - Tootsie Reviews

Ok, I like "Mrs. Doubtfire" better than "Tootsie," but that doesn't make "Tootsie" a bad movie. Dustin Hoffman's acting was top-class, as usual. I was impressed by how womanly he seemed. Unlike many other crossdressing movies, the whole world isn't stupid. Dorsey (Hoffman) can seriously pass for a female. Like "Mrs. Doubtfire," this movie is all about accepting others not for what they look like or what their name is, but who they are. Dorothy and Dorsey are the same person, but Dorothy is more lovable only because Dorsey has made a fool out of himself in the past. In other words, if Dorsey could have started with a clean slate, his career could have been as successful as Dorothy's. The relationships in this movie are just wacky. Characters are constantly confused by other characters' preferences, like the old doctor guy in the soap. Ironically, these relationships all center around Dorothy and disintegrate once he/she reveals his/her true identity. This means that those characters have been basing their judgements only on the outside. There are several funny moments in this movie, but overall, "Tootsie" is meant more to make you smile than laugh. Again, it is a great movie, so don't judge it only in comparison with other similar movies.
